Professor Datuk Dr. Nik Mohd Zain Bin. Nik Yusof served as secretary General, Ministry of Land and Co-operative Development, Malaysia from 1995 to 2002. He holds PhD (Law) from University of Kent, UK (1989); M.A. from Wisconsin, USA (1979); B.A (Hons) University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur (1969); Attended University of Cambridge School of  Land Economy Course (1999); Attended Harvard University School of Management Course (2001). Prof. Datuk Dr. Nik Mohd Zain Bin Nik Yusof has both local and international working experience and is well-versed in the land and property sector, having been in the business as quality and land consultant for more than 20 years. He served as Member of the Malaysian Administrative & Diplomatic Service ( Perkhidmatan Tadbir & Diplomatik) from 1969 to 2002 and served as Director of Land Settlement Scheme, Perlis; Director of land Settlement Scheme, Kelantan; Federal Lands Commissioner of Malaysia; Director-General of Department of Land & Mines, Malaysia.

He serves as Chairman of Yayasan Peneroka Negara, Malaysia. He has been Independent Non Executive Director of Amway Malaysia Holdings Bhd since February 9, 2006. He has been Independent & Non Executive Director of Fututech Bhd since April 21, 2008 and Director of E&O Property Development Bhd since July 25, 2003 to December 2010. He has been Director of Island & Peninsular Bhd from February 1, 2005 to December 2010. He served as Board member of Felda Holdings Sdn. Bhd, from 1995 to 2002. He serves as Federal Territory, Labuan Land Executive Committee Member; Federal Territory, Kuala Lumpur Land Executive Committee Member; Chairman, Malaysia – Thailand – Indonesia Land Boundary Committee; Chairman, Malaysia Cooperative College; Secretary, National Land Council, Malaysia; 1995 - 2002 Represented Malaysia on the disputed Island of Pulau Sipadan and Ligitan at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) de Hague, Holand (2002). Malaysia was awarded the two Islands.

He was a past-Chairman of the Prime Ministers Quality Award committee for both the public sector and the socio-economy. He has also been the examiner for the Prime Ministers Quality Award and was the alternate chairman to the evaluation committee for public sector from 1996 to 1997. He is Adjunct Professor for University Putra Malaysia. He was a professor of Land Law at University Technology Malaysia from  January 2005 to May, 2005. He currently does occasional lectures and provides training at national and international seminars on land and property matters.
